I love reading about the holidays, so I decided to write a story about the holidays, too!    These are
stories you can read to your children, creating a love of romance in them like my mom did for me.

John placed in on the tree.

When they were done, she clapped her hands and stood back, surveying their accomplishment.

Lights flickered on the tree like nuggets of gold.  John smacked his tongue against his mouth,
tasting pine.  The smell of Christmas wrapped around him.

Maggie’s hair gleamed under the candlelight.  Maybe this time next year, he’d be able to blanket
his face in her tresses.  For now, he gave himself the luxury of stroking it.  It was like all the
mistakes he’d ever made were for this one moment.

How to be a better man, how to appreciate what he was given.

The fire snapped.  He appeased it with more wood.

Tears stained her eyes when she turned to glance at him.  She placed her head on his chest
and his arms branched around her waist.

“Thank you for making this Christmas special.  I missed my family so much, but…”

Her voice trailed off, and he knew he’d made the right decision.  For her, for him.

They would be great together.

“You know I’ve always had feelings for you.”

Mandy gasped, and glanced at Liz, who happily grabbed a hot dog bun and wieners and set about
squeezing mustard all over the place.

She turned around.  Dallon took her hands, his trembling.

“You’ve never asked me out.”

if it wouldn’t be good for Liz, and I sensed aloofness from you.”

“Wiley, my daddy likes your mommy,” Liz called out.

“I do.”  Dallon kissed Mandy’s knuckles and stepped away to go to his daughter.  Mandy’s heart
swelled.  His feelings for his daughter were obvious, and made him more appealing.  “Don’t you?”

“I love her,” Liz said.  “I want to marry her.”

Dallon laughed and stroked his daughter’s hair.  “You just met her.”

“Yes, but she’s Wiley’s mom.  I want her to be mine, too.”

Mandy shared a lingering look with Dallon and contemplated his words.  Maybe she had been a
little standoffish.  She’d embraced his friendship, but when he touched her oh so politely on the
shoulder, she ignored the heat that welled in her.  She pulled away from any close contact.  She
had been afraid to fall in love.
